The Uphill Conf 2026 on the Gurten in Bern was a complete success for us! On Friday 8 May 2026, our CTO Niklaus Hofer gave a presentation to an expert audience on a topic that is of equal concern to many companies: the effective use of internal data sets for modern AI applications.
In a talk entitled "20 Years of Data: Building fine-tuning datasets and fixing search along the way", Niklaus Hofer highlighted the challenges that arise when existing corporate data is to be utilised for fine-tuning language models. The presentation demonstrated how this data problem can be reframed as an infrastructure problem – and showcased specific pipelines, analyses and the underlying infrastructure. A particularly practical side effect: cleanly prepared data also makes onboarding new employees considerably easier.
