Based on the open-source software Nextcloud, stepping stone offers a professional file and collaboration solution for Swiss businesses, educational institutions and public authorities.

Access via browser, desktop app or smartphone. Your data is always with you. Thanks to Collabora Online, you can edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations directly in your browser, in real time and with several people at the same time. You can manage access permissions in detail: who is allowed to create, view, edit or delete. Automatic versioning ensures that no changes are lost.

20 GiB of storage included, expandable at any time. Your data remains in stepping stone’s Swiss data centres.

Personal cloud on demand

Store, synchronise and access files from anywhere — via the web interface, desktop client or mobile app. Photos from your mobile phone’s camera are automatically backed up. Regular updates and daily backups are included.

You will receive an e-mail when your Nextcloud space is 85% full (By default the capacity is set to 85%, please contact us when you would like to adjust this). This message will be send to you daily. There are several options for what to do when your storage is full.

  • Order more storage space. To do so, please send an email to support@stepping-stone.ch and we will increase your Stoney storage for you.
  • Delete the data you do not need anymore.
  • Log in online and delete the data from the Recycle Bin.

The stepping stone Ltd. relies on moden open source technologies. This is especially prevalent in the case of Nextcloud with its opzimized Functions and state-of-the-art security features. These reasons convinced us to choose Nextcloud.

The quota visible on Nextcloud is a user quota and does not reflect the used space or available space on the file system at all. You can define these quotas in the user administration menu. Additionally to the real data the file system used space will also contain the previous and deleted versions of files. These can take up to 50% of the free space until they are cleaned automatically. This however can happen delayed and may need to be done manually in some cases.

Yes, for that purpose we offer Managed Backups.

This depends on your expected amount of data. You can purchase additional storage at any time.
