Go live — and stay that way.
Going live isn’t a leap into the unknown. It’s the step that everything leading up to it has been building towards.
Sooner or later, the day – or the night – will come. The moment when the new environment goes live and the old one is history. No more test runs, no more trial runs – it’s production.
The data has been migrated and verified. Now it’s all about the switchover: DNS, certificates, final synchronisation, and, above all, ensuring that everything works afterwards. That’s why stepping stone leaves nothing to chance at this stage.
Before go-live
Well before the switch is flipped, a detailed migration plan is in place. This plan defines all processes, clearly allocates responsibilities, and describes the steps required on our part down to the smallest detail. Commands included, ready to copy and paste.
The plan begins days before the actual migration and includes preparatory measures such as reducing the DNS TTLs.
In parallel, you carry out testing: we make the new environment available to you in the Swiss data centres once our internal quality checks have been completed. Your team tests it, provides feedback, and we make adjustments. Only when both sides give the green light is a date finalised.
On the day itself
On a mutually agreed date, we will migrate your services. This includes updating the DNS records, issuing the TLS certificates and, where necessary, a final data synchronisation. The Stepping Stone team will be on hand throughout the entire migration. No ticket system, no queues — direct support from Bern until everything is up and running.
What we check
Functional tests. Is the system running as it should?
Backup tests. Does the data backup work from the very start?
Acceptance tests. Have all the specifications from the requirements analysis been met?
Data integrity. Is all the data complete and consistent?
Monitoring activated. From the moment your services go live on the stepping stone platform, they are monitored. Immediate error notifications – not just the next morning.
Acceptance by you. Commissioning is only complete once you confirm that everything is working. Not when we say it is.
Afterwards
Go live. Stay calm.
